Road less Traveled, Journey from Good to Great

We are the crazy ones, the trouble makes, the misfits, the ones that are not happy with the status quo, the round pigs of the square holes. What ever the world may deem us to be, but it is evident that there is no rule that we follow except one rule – be the best. For me, I am in the audience of many geniuses and I have heard often that one is enough to change the world, with 9 other additions soon to the ever growing flock, really " God Save the World".

Happiness was and is no one’s territory, being happy is a feeling of being perfect, it's no space, no place, no matter or time. All we need to do is time it well. Do not ever let the intersection of knowledge, learning and experience slip away again. Make no mistake, opportunity once gone, seldom come back again. You have trusted me by allowing me to pave a path and with the mutual trust we have walked this dream. I am a dreamer, always have been, when had to sleep empty stomach, I dreamed with eyes wide open and when the circumstances changed for good, I dream harder for me and with you all. I cannot state how grateful I am, as it is your audience that has compelled me to work harder.

Don't forget to establish a personal compass ad that is the must. Start your work on building 5 spokes to this compass. The most important spoke in adult life is to have a career or a job that we love doing, as it is the work where we spend almost 60% of our adult life. If this time is not spent well or makes us unhappy, trust me we will make others around us including our dear ones unhappy. The great thing is we have taken care of this aspect and for a few this is work in progress. Once we have a happy career, now the second spoke of finances and security automatically gets established, if it is still not, make sure we work on it. At this time the third spoke of relationships flourishes, which in turn leads to the fourth spoke of having fun in the true sense. Now at this time it is our responsibility to establish the fifth spoke to our personal compass, giving back.

In the end an excerpt from an interview, one of its kind, when for the first time the two giants of modern world technology, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates came together just a few months before Steve Jobs passed away. When Steve Jobs was asked how would he define his relationship with Bill Gates, he had all great things to say about Bill Gates but what stuck with me was " You and I have memories that stretch longer than the road ahead.

I wish you progression, happiness, joy and bliss. I hope that you will keep the learning alive and stretch you wings a little broader. I truly hope that the journey of change that you started will be ever more adventurous, exciting, challenging and at times difficult as in difficulty comes an opportunity as it is the true test of our character.

Education Edge Starts the PMP and and BA course -

Good morning everyone,

Welcome to Education Edge and congratulations on taking this first step towards PMP Certification.

The start of PMP course marks the beginning of some serious effort that is required if we are planning on writing the exam before November October 2015. Our job is to equip you with the right knowledge and make this journey easier and seamless considering all of us are working professionals.

Starting this week we will be sending out a weekly email, summarizing the chapters that we cover. Please do not consider these points as the only framework to study for the exam; this is just an "OFFICE READ", a routine we want to get into. The goal should be to read PMBOK 5 at least twice. Considering the value of this credential, the time spent in next few months towards preparing and passing this credential may be all worth it.

Our sessions are every Saturday @ 9 am.

The end goal of this program is to attain the PMP designation and if we stay persistent that should not be a challenge. As discussed in our class peaking at the right time is the mantra for success. The goal is to start with 45 minutes a day and take it to 1:30 hours a day excluding the weekends.

Each week our goal should be to read PMBOK Guide for the sections covered in the class and go over our videos.

Finding work and transitioning into Business Analysis role is a journey or should I say a process which requires the right and consistent preparation, motivation, confidence gained from knowledge and belief in your heart that "Yes I can". When these qualities intersect, it is at this stage, you gain the quality to deliver and demonstrate the right knowledge.

Stay confident, understand that BABOK is the authoritative source of knowledge and do not leave any stone unturned towards practicing the concepts of this standard. Success will soon be yours. Keep the momentum going and stay persistent. Try being the best, the goal should not be money, trust me, money will come if learning is done the right way. The goal is to achieve the state of self actualization which only comes with expertise. Be the Experts, there will be no fear, just enjoyment at every stage in your career.

Knowledge has no form and when we learn well, we manage to give a form to the formless. Education must lead to opening of our minds towards new possibilities, mutual respect, personal growth and most importantly sensitivity towards issues and social causes. Education is true enablement.

Dear friends,

Since inception of Education Edge, we have continued to grow at a rapid pace. Balancing growth and staying in touch with everyone at times has been challenging. There may have been missed connections but make no mistake, no one has been forgotten and most importantly I have tried my best to ensure that no one is left behind.

Hard work, unwavering desire to keep moving forward, removing hurdles from the success path and increased motivation after each setback is what has led to a stable compass in our lives. One aspect has been common amongst us – developing understanding of the complete life cycle of anything that we undertake in our lives and ensuring we reach the desired outcome.

Aristotle said, "Whole is better than sum of its parts". Learning will complete us and the demonstration of this learning will make us unique. My true measure of success is when most of you will fulfill their dreams. Every night when I go to bed, for a moment, I think about you all, each one of you. I dream about all of you finding your destinations – where ever and whatever those are. Business Analysis and project management may very well be short term goal for some of you. For others it may be passion. If it's passion go crazy at learning it and if it is a short term goal, still get mastery as this may be that step towards your final destination.

When I worked in silo, I was not so successful, and then with time, I have learned to spread my wings, created true relationship, collaborated and created positive energy. The true character of a magnet is it’s pull. Our magnetism is the knowledge and it will pull attention towards us. You all have listened to me, sometimes I sound tough and I feel bad for being so assertive. But then I hope you will understand that I am trying my best to create a baseline of knowledge and trying to ensure that all of us stay together in-line with the big plan. When I was in the US, there was federal government program and it said something like "No kid left behind". This is my motto too. In the coming weeks, we will start sprinting towards our goal, I will make sure that this sprint does not turn into a marathon.

So open your mind, trust the process and prepare yourself for the flight of your life, fly with me under my wings and then soon, my hope is you will spread your wings and take a few under your wings too. The goal of a business is not just making money, it's also helping people. I have practiced it and even during major crisis in my life, never steered away from this principle. As recently as few years ago my bank balance was negative and in my pocket I had $117. It was 8:30 in the night and I was in a workshop with some of you. I could not just let everyone sit in the class hungry just because I had to finish a session. How could I, when one of you taught me "Never to eat alone". That day I went home with a balance of $37 in my pocket. Was I stressed? May be, but had faith, actually increased faith on the hard work and knowledge that I had gained through the years. Goodness creates happiness and opens the doors of possibilities that you never would imagine otherwise.

In Pablo Picasso words "everything that you can imagine is real". But that will only happen when we will nurture our minds with great thoughts and seek not to change the world, but choose to change our mind about the world. What you see reflects your thinking and your thinking reflects your choice of what you want to see. One thing I always stress on is to read books about the great innovations and changes. It will create a great mindset to start your journey from good to great.

Last Friday, one of my student who is successfully employed with a Bank for over a year, told me that I must be very happy in my life. I paused for a while, and at that moment I realized how happy I have been with my life. Last 5 years have been a great learning experience for me. I have been getting up every morning with determination and going to bed with satisfaction.

With each one of you finding work, my happiness grows. My dream gets bigger. I relish your success with you and then in my own silence. I appreciate your courage, motivation and the desire to change something in your life. This lesson of life will be incomplete for me if you did not find me and I did not connect with you. In last 2 years I have interacted with over 300 students. You have taught so much more than I can ever give you. I have had over 300 life lessons from you. I sincerely hope that in the end there will be some takeaways for you all too.

Wake up to your dream, work hard for it, decision it and action it in a way that there is no tomorrow. A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work. Character is what emerges from all the little things we were too busy to do yesterday, but did anyway.

I am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it. We all complain about how bad things are, but we never step out of the comfort. Striving for success is like trying to harvest where you haven’t planted. Instill the will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential… these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.

The greatest principle on success is if we persist long enough we will win.

Finally, this is what I have to say to you - our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in getting up every time we fall. Learn from the failures and try never to repeat it again.

The constraints of the past are behind us and the foundation of future are firmly in place. In the words of Paul Whiteman “The Orchestra have tuned their instruments, baton has given signal” to this if I may just add “it’s now time there is a new symphony in play”

Founder
The foundation of Education Edge is based on delivering learning in a simplified form directed with a clear aim of realizing only success. In the early days of Education Edge, our specialization was delivering PMP. The origination of the idea came of out of my struggles with finding PMP preparation institute. After completing my PMP with Proficient in all Process Groups and with mostly self-learning, I knew that my goal was to establish a professional education campus that will deliver excellence and provide success to each person who trusted us. With my management consulting experience in Portfolio and Program Management, I decided to develop my own course, a course that will deliver value to students. With my own PMP Preparation experience, I knew it will not be a boot camp. How could any institute or instructor cram in over 500 pages of PMBOK in 4-5 sessions? And how could someone retain all this content considering the complexity of the exam?
Our PMP course is based on progressive and milestone based learning mechanism and ensuring all the participants stay focused and motivated thorough out the 8 weeks program. With the success of PMP course, I have introduced the same mechanism to design the business analysis as well as Quality Assurance programs. In last few years we created a unique space in project management as well as business analysis.
